Kelly Plantation Golf Club

A very beautiful course to play. Pro shop, clubhouse and grounds are immaculate. The practice facilities are outstanding. Every staff member I encountered was cheerful and engaging. You can tell they work hard to provide a premier experience for the membership and for guests. The course had generous tee landing areas - but were always well guarded by beautiful sand bunkers and strategic water locations. Greens rolled very fast and true. Hard to swallow the +$150 greens fee, but if you are visiting on vacation, why not?

I played this course for the first time in late December of 2023. I had hear great things about the track and was excited to see what it was all about... Only to show up to the course for them to tell us that the tee boxes on the first 5 (FIVE) holes were under closed and the 6th hole was completely shut down due to construction. They still charged us the full price rate to play and gave us ZERO notice that the tee boxes were being worked on until we showed up to play. To help this cause, they provided us a 20% coupon for our NEXT round valid for 1 year. Now we were vacationing from Missouri therefore this coupon is essentially worthless. It was very frustrating that they did not notify me of the ongoing work when I called to book the tee time or at LEAST given us a discount. It's a good course with a fun and challenging layout and the greens were in great shape for the time of year we played. We would have really enjoyed it if we could have played a real 18 holes.

I have played many famous and beautiful courses. This course is right up there! From the time you get out of your car until you get back in, you will experience the most friendly and helpful staff of any golf course you will ever play. It makes your round more fun when the staff is nice to you when you arrive. It is a terrific design and conditions were ideal. Some of the traps could be fluffier, but that is about the only negative I saw. Well worth the money. 5 STAR

This is a nice course, don’t get me wrong, a very nice course actually. But it really wasn’t the most exciting. I enjoyed the round, but there is still 2 other courses in town that I would rather play. The pace of play is solid. The sand is probably the best sand I’ve ever played out of. The range is awesome, but squeezed tight for some reason. If this course was 50 bucks I’d call it a 9/10, but for 100, I’d say it’s more like a 7/10.

I understand that when people have similar experiences, many of them vary. One person drives a car and doesn't like it... then the very next person drives the exact same car 5 minutes later and has the best driving experience of their life. I get it, that is life. With that in mind, I will tell you that ANYONE who gives Kelly Plantation a 1 or 2 star rating is flat out LYING. The staff are phenomenal and the course is gorgeous. You just can not ask for a better golf experience. The signature hole (#4) is just breath taking. The course is in terrific condition... I've seen other courses that didn't have greens that were as well manicured as the fairways at Kelly Plantation. Even poorly hit iron shots will still roll for days, making your mis-hits very playable. For $80, we didn't get a round of good golf. We got a fantastic experience. And that's more than the course... that's the people. The staff catered to our every need and even the one minor issue (which wasn't their fault) they fixed anyway. If you're anywhere near Destin and want a memorable experience, do not hesitate. Play Kelly Plantation and you can thank me later.
